2023 ML 440 Opened Saturday 4/15
Yesterday the Grand Valley Irrigation Company (GVIC) ditch rider opened the ML 440 Headgate. As you can see, the water is very muddy. It may be a few weeks before it is usable. We have diverted the water from our holding tank to avoid filling it with the silt load carrier by the dirty irrigation water.
Due to the fact that the water is so muddy, it is being dumped by several users on our lateral into the Compton Drainage Ditch to protect private irrigation systems. This is causing flooding in our subdivision in the northern common areas along the drainage ditch.
Please use caution in these areas and take care to have children not play in or walk through these areas. We will continue to reach out to the Grand Valley Drainage District (GVDD) to alleviate the flooding caused by irrigation runoff from our neighbors along the ML 440.
