Pumps are back up and Running as of 8/27/22 @ 1600 hours

We suggest pulling out your filters and checking them for crud between 1200 noon and 1600 hours when the pumps are off for the afternoon. Thank you so much for being patient, we really appreciate you! Also a special thank you to our awesome neighbors who called to alert us to the fact that we had a neighbor with a flooding issue yesterday afternoon!!

Draining the Irrigation Holding Tank

Image
In anticipation of getting clean water in the future, we're having a jetter/vac truck come out later this week to remove the silt from the tank. As you can see, it does not take long to fill the tank with silt when the water coming from upstream is muddy. This is why we try to dump water when conditions are bad: to keep this junk out of our pipes and off of your landscaping (and sidwalks and cars).

Keeping an Eye on the Water Quality

Image
We are keeping an eye on the water quality. The silt load is still high enough that we are dumping the water to keep as much silt out of the irrigation holding tank as possible. The City of Fruita also suggested in their weekly newsletter to avoid watering until the water clears up. You can sign up for the City of Fruita weekly newsletter  HERE The rain we are receiving tonight should help to keep things green while we all wait. Thank you!

Pumps turned off due to muddy conditions

Image
We have turned the pumps off and have diverted the water due to the heavy silt load in the ditch water (which caused damages to the City of Fruita's irrigation line - don't worry- we are not associated with their irrigation system). When there are heavy rains upstream it often leads to very muddy river water. The muddy water can damage our pumps, the irrigation lines, and can clog private sprinklers. After receiving a couple of concerned calls and determining the water would not be clearing up soon, we elected to wait out the mud. When the pumps are back up and running, we will notify you here. Thank you for your patience.

Check your water schedule

Image
A neighbor called this morning, concerned about water pressure and was concerned there may be a break in the line. There was not a break, but we were disappointed to find that SEVERAL neighbors were watering outside of the water schedule on the wrong day or during the wrong time. Neighbors, we know it's been hot, but there are 183 residences, and we can't all water at the same time. There is a schedule in place to make sure everyone has 90 minutes of watering time three times a week. There is a watering schedule on the website  HERE  which will give you the option to water in the morning or the evening during your scheduled days and time.  If this becomes a consistent problem the Board may have to start assessing fines, because this could damage the pumps, which are expensive. Non-functioning pumps also mean no water for anyone for an extended period of time while the new equipment is ordered, shipped and installed. So, if you would, please take a minute this weeke...
