Two Main Valve Failures 4/30/2023

We got two calls already for Main Valve failures. The pumps will need to be turned off until our neighbors can make the repairs. This is a normal process in the spring as the system comes on for the year.  We will update you here when the repairs have been made and the pumps are turned back on. Thank you for your patience.  Update 05/02/2023: the pumps will be back up and running tonight. Please stick to the schedule and do not hesitate to call if you have an irrigation emergency!

4/29/2023 Pumps are Up and Running - Please Follow the Watering Schedule

With any luck the freezing weather for this spring has passed. The water is filthy, but it may be for several more weeks. We were able to get the pumps up and the system tested on Saturday, April 29. Thank you to those who waited for us to finish testing the system to start watering! To those that did not: your lawns are going to be the same shade of green as those neighbors that were patient. There were no major issues reported overnight, so everyone can begin watering on their scheduled days and times. If you did not get a watering schedule (along with the Annual Meeting Minutes) you may need to update your mailing address with the Board. As always, if you have any issues with irrigation, please contact 970-639-4061 and someone will get in touch with you shortly. Happy Irrigation Season!

2023 ML 440 Opened Saturday 4/15

Image
Yesterday the Grand Valley Irrigation Company (GVIC) ditch rider opened the ML 440 Headgate. As you can see, the water is very muddy. It may be a few weeks before it is usable. We have diverted the water from our holding tank to avoid filling it with the silt load carrier by the dirty irrigation water. Due to the fact that the water is so muddy, it is being dumped by several users on our lateral into the Compton Drainage Ditch to protect private irrigation systems. This is causing flooding in our subdivision in the northern common areas along the drainage ditch. Please use caution in these areas and take care to have children not play in or walk through these areas. We will continue to reach out to the Grand Valley Drainage District (GVDD) to alleviate the flooding caused by irrigation runoff from our neighbors along the ML 440. Please see the short video below. City of Fruita Spring Clean-Up Day April 29, 2023 0800 to 1400 900 Keifer Ave

The City of Fruita does not have a Spring Clean curb-side trash removal program like the City of Grand Junction, but they do have an upcoming event where residents can drop off many items for free. Please see their website at:  Trash Collection and Recycle Services | City of Fruita Colorado  They also have information about trash service and recycling.  Please do not place large items such as tires and mattresses at the curb and remember that trashcans are required to be kept behind a six-foot privacy fence or in a garage on non trash-collection days (trash is picked up on Tuesdays, except the few holiday exceptions).

Bummer, USPS Cluster Box Down.

Over the weekend a cluster box in the subdivision was damaged. The HOA has reached out to the United States Postal Service to find out how long it will take to repair/replace the box and what neighbors need to do to get their mail until the box is back in service. We have heard rumors it may take three to four weeks and mail can be picked up at Scarlett Drive, but we are confirming that information, as we also have heard rumors that the HOA is responsible to replace the box, which is incorrect. The mail is a public utility, and like the street lights and drinkable water lines which are also utilities, the HOA does not own or repair these utilities. We will update you when we receive accurate information. This may also be a good time to remind neighbors that broken down or unregistered vehicles must be kept in a garage or behind a six-foot privacy fence. Trailers cannot be parked in the street for more than a twelve-hour unloading period and trailers may not be parked in driveways...

No Water in the Ditches on Easter (4/9/2023)

There is not a drop of water in the main ditch. Since Grand Valley irrigation is over a week behind schedule, that will impact our timeframe for water. It may be the latter part of April before we are up and running. Go ahead and close your Main Valve now and we will keep you posted here.
